St. Columba’s Bay on the island of Iona, Scotland, is a place of great natural beauty: the rugged, rocky land; the blue-green ocean; the seabirds soaring above. It is not easy to reach Iona, a place of pilgrimage for over a thousand years. It is even more difficult to reach St. Columba’s Bay as there are no roads over the heather-covered hills. But together with people from all over the world, we met the challenge and the struggle was worthwhile to reach this place of peace and beauty. Thousands of people make this journey every year.
Columba Bay was formed in 2002 after sisters Carolyn and Elizabeth Nicholson returned from Iona and had a chance to reflect on the experience and discovered a new energy and purpose for their lives. Much of what was experienced on this journey is incorporated into the Columba Bay approach to working with others.
